National registration.
The right of the design is acquired through registration with the Patent Office in Sofia. The right of design lasts 10 years from the date of application. The right of expression belongs to the author or his successor. The date of application shall be the date of receipt at the Patent Office:
- Application for registration with the name and address of applicant;
- Name and address of the author ;
- The number of designs, indication of the products in which it is incorporated or to which is attached design Classification index products to the International Classification of models and drawings under the Locarno Agreement;
- One or more graphic or photographic images of the design.

Multiple application.
It is possible in one application to include several designs if the products/the deigns are included in the same class of the International Classification of models and drawings under the Locarno Agreement, or the designs/the products belong to the same set of products. If those products/designs are ornaments, multiple application can not be used.

Publication of the application.
Each application meeting the formal requirements is published in the Official Bulletin of the Patent Office. In the next two months from the date of publication third parties can object. If there is no objection, examination of the application is carried out.

Changes in the application.
You may only change the name or address of the applicant. It is possible to correct mistakes in the name or address of the applicant and some obvious errors. These amendments should not affect the design.

Requirements.
Images of the design or products in which it is incorporated or to which it is applied the design must provide a basic view and in many additional views as necessary for clear, full and detailed disclosure of the design for which is sought protection. Products must be in the position in which they normally function.

The right of registered design includes:
Right of the older to use the design, to dispose of it, and to prohibit third parties to copy or use in trade the design, included in the scope of protection, without his consent. Using the design includes the production, supply and exposure to market or the use of a product that is incorporated or to which is attached to the scope of design protection, as well as import, export or storage of the same product for these purposes. Law shall have effect in respect of bona fide third parties from the date of publication of registration of design.
